TRANSPORT Secretary Geoff Hoon has said he is "very attracted" to the idea of a high-speed rail link to Leeds. His comments to MPs in the Commons came as political pressure mounts on the Government to be more ambitious with its high-speed rail plans for TGV-style 200mph trains.

THE final decision on two new tram lines for Nottingham will be made by a junior transport minister. Paul Clark will also rule on whether a workplace parking levy will be approved for the city.
