the east Coast Main Line is fragile and needs investment which is flowing to lines serving other northern cities, a senior Network Rail boss has said.
Heathrow Southern Rail link: Transport Secretary asks private companies to submit proposals to connect airport to Waterloo and Surrey
The link is estimated to cost 1.2 billion and could be privately funded by companies and local authorities
